Life through the eyes of the Grifball in Halo 4. An awesome
Grifball poem written by the even more awesome SquirrelBurrito.
A powerful AI hacked our servers last night and some interesting
information was left behind in the forums about the NGA's SL13 Pro
It has begun. Can you feel it? This is Grifball.
The time has come. Now we unite with our friends, align
with our allies, and position against our rivals...
One year ago today - on May 20th, 2012 - Grifball.net and the
National Grifball Association were launched and for better or
worse, we're still here today! SquirrelBurrito set up a thread for
us all to take a walk down memory lane and share our favorite NGA

After some long delays (sorry!), Spring League 2013 playoffs are
finally getting underway! Read on forimportant information
for Captains and other details...
Full Story Discuss Pro Bracket Ammy Bracket Stats &
Leaderboards Schedule Game
We apologize for the long delay in starting playoffs - a
situation arose where the fairness of a game was in question, which
required a long time to sort out. Since it would directly affect
playoff seeding, we wanted to resolve the situation as fairly and
thoroughly as possible. Luckily, it's all finished now, and we are
set to begin.
The National Grifball Association's Spring League 2013 (Season
4) Pro League Playoffs will be single elimination format, with each
series being the best 2 out of three games. The submission deadline
is Friday, July 26th, 2013 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific time for the
first round, and the subsequent Friday for each subsequent round.
Captains are in charge of contacting each other and scheduling
their games before the deadline for the round - if an issue arises,
please contact an admin. Streaming is mandatory, but will be
arranged and provided for you based on the time slot you select
(let us know if you need a day/time not listed, we can probably
work something out).
Pro League Bracket
The National Grifball Association's Spring League 2013 (Season
4) Amateur League Playoffs will be single elimination format, with
each series being the best 2 out of three games. The submission
deadline is Friday, July 26th, 2013 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific time for
the first round, and the subsequent Friday for each subsequent
round. Captains are in charge of contacting each other and
scheduling their games before the deadline for the round - if an
issue arises, please contact an admin. Streaming is optional for
the Amateur League Playoffs, but if you would like to be streamed,
please use the website's Playoff Scheduling form to request a
Amateur League Bracket
ALL PRO LEAGUE GAMES (and any Amateur League games that you want
to be streamed) must be scheduled using the Playoff Scheduling form
at Grifball.net, so please contact an admin if you are having
trouble using it. Neutral Hosts are optional but strongly
recommended for both Pros and Amateurs - let us know on the
scheduling form if you want one and we'll try to set an agreeable
one up for you. Only SquirrelBurrito and NetsPride15 are authorized
to stream NGA games, but, like previously stated, we will take care
of arranging the streaming as long as you fill out your Playoff
The default maps and gametypes will remain the same (captains
may still agree to play on another gametype, but the league may
request that it be renamed during streamed games) as it has been
during the regular season, EXCEPT for streamed games which will all
default to being played on the map NGA Streamcast Stadium,
available on shadowxtc's fileshare - with an alternate option being
Season 3's NGA Realism NH.

What's happening here? Judging from the background, and
how dark it is, I believe this is one of the original versions of
Sarge's Lab, perhaps even the stock map "Grifball Court" on the
game disc. I'm not sure where the light that's hitting Grif from
underneath is coming from - it might actually be the ball itself -
but it certainly makes the scene. This is definitely one of my
favorites, a serious contender for the "Most Dramatic Pose"
category. Originally titled "grifgold" - if anybody recognizes any
of these, feel free to inform me of who the creator is... or even
better informthemthat their work is being put on display for

TONIGHT is the final night for PRO TEAMS to
make up your NGA Spring League 2013 regular season games! Any games
not played in their entirety AND SUBMITTED by 11:59pm Pacific time
tonight will not be accepted and will not count towards your team's
seeding in playoffs.
We are extending the overall deadline through Friday
night, however PRO TEAMS ARE STILL BOUND TO PLAY BY TONIGHT.
Your opponent may choose, if they wish to do so, to play tomorrow
or Friday - but they do not have to be nice about it.
AMATEUR TEAMS your official make-up day has been moved to this
Friday, since we did not warn any of you in time for last week!
If you need any help getting games setup, please feel free to
contact one of our admins through our chatbox or a private message
on XBox Live.
For those teams who are facing opponents that just aren't
showing up, you can now submit forfeit win requests by following
the instructions on the Submit Game page at Grifball.net
- You are required to have a full team of at least 3 players
(you may not play with less than 3 on the court) online and ready
to go during the entire 3-hour window on the day you are normally
scheduled to play (for Pro teams, this is TONIGHT 9pm-Midnight ET,
for Amateur teams this is FRIDAY 9pm-Midnight ET).
- If one team has less than four players, the other IS NOT
required to sit out a player to have even teams.
- You MUST play your opponents when they invite you to do so,
unless you are already playing another NGA game at that time, in
which case your opponents must wait for you.
- Normal neutral host rules apply - neutral hosts are not
required, unless one team requests one, in which case it does
become mandatory but it is their responsibility to find one in a
timely manner, and only if they can do so. If the neutral host
process will cause the game to be delayed and thus unplayed, the
team requesting the neutral host would receive a forfeit
- Captains should have their party play at least one game in
matchmaking so that there's a record that you were online, and it
would be ideal to all send me (shadowxtc) a PM on XBL just so that
there's proof of exactly what time you were all online, in case the
team you're requesting a forfeit win over decides to claim they
were there and it was in fact your team that did not show up.
- You may negoatiate with the other team and decide to play on
either Thursday or Friday instead - but ONLY if the other team
decides to allow it. BOTH captains should inform the league
that you have agreed to do so, or it will be counted as a no-win
after 11:59pm PT tonight.
- As always, substitutions require permission from our
administrators and are very rarely approved, please don't ask.
Immediately at 11:59pm PT this Friday, game
submissions will be disabled, and ROSTERS WILL BE LOCKED. Make any
changes to your team's lineup or team name BEFORE that time!
Full details about this season's Playoffs and an overview of the
rules will be posted on Saturday along with the playoff
All teams should have 12 regular season games. Four weeks each
with two scheduled games, plus four inter-division games that were
up to captains to schedule amongst themselves.
Unfortunately, no team has yet reached 12 games. This is not
much of a complain, so much as it is a warning - I know things
don't always go as planned in real life, and this is just a game.
Even my team has only played 4 games at this point. We have a busy
night ahead of us, and will be lucky to get even half of them
played in the time we have available. This is why I'm sending you
all a warning through E-Mail.
Here's a list of how many games each team still has to play (or
report as a forfeit) before the deadline (Tonight, 11:59pm PT for
Pro teams, Friday 11:59pm PT for Ammy teams):
TEAM NAME - CAPTAIN - UNPLAYED GAMES
Orange Crush - UltimateMystery - 1
Relapse - USA Perfection & inf3ktion - 2
The Rifball Grapists - Gastric Timmy - 2
GCW - xSHMOLExNEMOx - 3
On the Fence - four to oh - 3
Greatest Hits Vol. II - Crusader0102 - 4
Fame360 - Perfect Demise - 4
Turquoise Jeep - Ezy08 - 5
Rage Quitting Pussies - ixSnarf - 6

Melons - WafflMelon - 7
Reckless Fire - Keith829 - 8
Clutch Betrayal - SquirrelBurrito - 8
We Need Host - LikeaLostPuppy & x352x Piggies - 8
These teams have not specifically said to us either way what
their plans are, and might only have played so few games because
their opponents were not available. Unless we hear from them, they
will be assumed to be forfeit factories as well - ideally only
teams with 4 or more games would even be considered for
So if you're on one of these teams and your plan is NOT to drop
out of the season, you should let one of us know!
G-Dots - HENSELMAN - 9
Top Hats and Monocles - Mr Saintz98 - 9
Business Decision - Oh My Godless and Taylor Cann - 10
Astronaut Scuba Divers - stage53 - 10
The Abusement Park - Mr Crobar - 11
Super Smash Bros. - Sneezedip - 11
Coons - Oarganic - 12
These teams have officially informed us that they are dropping
out of the season - if you have unplayed games against them, you
should submit them as forfeit win requests. There is no need to
bother these captains any further.
The New York Pineapples - SlimJimX50 - DROPPED OUT
Silent Strike - Mikee0085 - DROPPED OUT
Splashing Spartans - GrievousGooosh - DROPPED OUT
Dropping Plates - CrippledDebater - DROPPED OUT

I once was the bomb,
Now merely a ball.
A skull in a blue glow,
I fly, then I fall.
No longer quite feared,
I'm tossed side to side.
Grif calls out for a pass,
And his teammates just hide.
I've gone from Assault
To the realm of First Touch.
I beg you to hold me;
It's not asking too much.
Some may call it griefing,
But it shows me you care.
If you love me, statpad me;
Don't score - if you dare.

What's happening here? It might look blurry at first, as
if someone applied a blur filter, or maybe it's just low
resolution, right? Wrong. Take a look at the red
lightning, and a few areas around where the hammer's orb of
destruction eminates - crisp and clear. So what gives?
Well, besides the poor soul on the red team getting
obliterated so beautifully, a bomb was just detonated - that's the
source of the red lightning. When this happens, a shockwave
of distortion erupts outward from the bomb plant - you may or may
not notice it while you're playing, some see it as just a flash of
light - but in Theater, it causes some beautiful results.
